OFFA
Oak Farm Friends Association (OFFA) was set up in April 2011. We have a Committee of 10 members and a wider membership of around 40 friends, consisting of local people and the families and friends of service users. Our purpose is to raise funds to support the work and activities of Oak Farm including the purchase of equipment, materials and livestock.
Oak Farm is a smallholding situated in Ditton Priors village centre, which is owned and operated by Shropshire Council. It is home to a vibrant and successful day service for adults with learning disabilities, providing vocational training and work related experience in horticulture and agriculture.
Over the past 2 decades Shropshire Council has been very supportive of Oak Farm, however in the current economic climate the council has to make great financial savings, and Oak Farm is operating at a much reduced level financially. Some of the equipment dates from when Oak Farm was opened over 20 years ago and much of it is worn out and no longer able to be repaired.
So far OFFA's fundraising has purchased:
- New lawnmowers and strimmers
- 2 new chicken houses and electric fencing
Our next round of fundraising will be for:
- New paddocks and fencing
- Dog kennels - to enable the farm to offer a dog walking facility
- Developing the jam and chutney enterprise
